Conference Board Lead Economic Index (LEI) and the Economic Cycle Research Institute or ECRI are the long running trend indicators with a forward lag.

Economic indicators like Job Rates tend to have a time lag.  Recent jobless rates have been cause for celebration as 2012 emerges.

Baltic Dry Index and Harper Container Shipping Index work a forward lag.  Shipping was highly saturated in 2007 just before 2008 correction.
